Low-Carb-Sugar-Free-Salted-Caramel-Mocha-Frap

Some of you may have heard a rumor that Starbucks is discontinuing their sugar-free caramel syrup. I don't know for sure if this rumor is true, but when I looked on Amazon for sugar-free coffee syrups, it says that Starbucks' was unavailable. As you can imagine, for a caramel aficionado like myself, this was very, VERY bad news.

So with this information, I decided I would stock up on another caramel syrup. The DaVinci was a super good deal (a 3 pack of big bottles for about $20) so that's the way I went. So far, I'm very pleased with the taste, as Torani I found to be a little bitter.

Now that I have a large quantity of sugar-free caramel syrup, bring on the coffee drinks!

I was going to make my usual protein smoothie last night for dessert, but I remembered this plethora of syrup I just bought, so I brainstormed for a minute (didn't take long) and came up with the idea of a low-carb salted caramel mocha frap. I didn't actually use any of my protein powder; it's vanilla flavored, and I didn't want that interfering with the taste of this experiment.

Well, I've made this a few times now, and after some tweaks, I've got it done to my liking! Of course, you may want to adjust these to your own taste. Maybe you like it a little sweeter or a little saltier than me. It happens. By the way, I calculated this gem at 6 net carbs! Wheee! PS: This post and recipe has affiliate links.

Here is my recipe for a low-carb, sugar-free salted caramel mocha frap:

1/2 cup full-fat cottage cheese
1/2 cup unsweetened (I used vanilla) almond milk
2 pinches salt
1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tsp Splenda (or your sweetener of choice)
5 coffee ice cubes (frozen coffee)

Put all this in the blender and blend! Now, if you don't already have coffee ice cubes, I'd just use a little cold coffee and a few regular ice cubes to "frap" it up. I'm sure this drink would be tasty even if it wasn't too frozen. Now I want to try it this way, too!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy your frap!
